About

“You don't make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.” -- Ansel Adams

Welcome, and thank you so much for stopping by…
Come with me on a photographic walk of the history and colors of this incredible journey. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

You will find both cityscapes and landscapes, many of my images are from Paris, and others are from Michigan, New York. Flordia  and other wonderful states I have lived and visited.

Winner in 52 Frames “ A Starbucks Morning ” In this surreal photograph, a hot cup of coffee takes center stage. The cup is oversized and the steam from the coffee rises upward, creating a swirling vortex of mist that seems to reach out towards the viewer. What's particularly unusual about this cup of coffee is that it's filled with a pond and a young boy in a small rowboat perched on its surface He holds a paddle in his hand that he uses to navigate the cup's surface. The overall effect is dreamlike and otherworldly, as though the boy has been transported to a magical garden where the coffee cup contains his pond and flowers grow to impossible sizes. It's a scene that invites the viewer to suspend their disbelief and imagine the impossible, all while thinking about sipping a hot cup of Starbucks.
I am a Michigan photographer based out of both Grand Rapids and Whitefish Point (northern Upper Peninsula). My driving ambition is to use photography to capture the special, fleeting moments in life— those visions and experiences that, if missed, serve only to haunt the quiet places of my mind, reminding me imperfectly about all the wondrous paths I’ve walked and people I’ve met. I seek to see the extraordinary in the mundane, confront insignificance with relevance, and in the end create a deeper connection with the world around me. The contrast of living in a bustling urban environment, as well as the usually peaceful (yet sometimes violent) Lake Superior, has had a tremendous influence on the development of my work. Every day I bring something unexpected back to my studio, fueling the exploration of new ideas, tools and techniques.

The Gordon family have called this castle ‘home’ for nearly 400 years. A small tower stood on the lands of Cluny as far back as the 14th century, but the castle – as we know it today – was built in 1604, with extensive additions over the coming centuries as the family prospered.

Formation. Antelope Canyon, which is known by the Navajo as “The place where water runs through rocks,” was formed over the course of hundreds of years by water that ran through sandstone. The upper part of the canyon is at around 4,000 feet elevation, with walls that rise 120 feet above its stream bed.

Not to live for the day, that would be materialistic — but to treasure the day. I realize that most of us live on the skin, on the surface, without appreciating just how wonderful it is simply to be alive at all. -Audrey Hepburn
